Session 1

The perspectives of the PV Market in Spain

After installing around 4.6 GW in 2019, Spain returns to the continent’s top solar markets and is the clear market leader in Europe. This session will talk about the development of the sector in the last year in Spain, and will discuss its perspectives, market development, challenges, barriers, and new opportunities of growth.

Session 2

Corporates, citizens and renewable energy communities engaging in self-consumption

Self-consumption can facilitate the integration of renewables onto the grid and lower the overall costs of the energy system. The Clean Energy Package encourages the consumer to be at the centre of the energy transition. Several actors have now the right to consume, store and sell self-generated electricity and participate in flexibility or energy efficiency schemes. This session will present different experiences of individual and collective self-consumption frameworks across Spain and the different actors involved. It describes best practices and provides recommendation for the future of self-consumption.

Session 3

Corporates driving the energy transition: Corporate sourcing, PPAs and renewable energy

Corporates are increasingly concerned about their impact on the environment and climate change and thus they seek to reduce carbon emissions while controlling the costs associated with their electricity consumption. This session will present the corporate sourcing market of renewable energy in Spain, explore how corporates can act as off-takers, what are the common roadblocks, what can be achieved in terms of economic growth and jobs, and what can other countries learn from the experience of Spain.

Session 4

Paving the way for corporate sourcing of renewable energy: Financing, Bankability and Risk Mitigation

Before closing a deal for corporates to source their operations with renewable energy, banks and financiers need to bring the money necessary to realise the project. This session will present the point of view of banks and financiers when assessing a corporate PPA, from describing the financing options available to assessing the bankability of the off-taker.

A new solar era in Spain begins

By adding an estimated 4.7 GW in 2019, Spain returns to the continent’s top solar markets and is the clear market leader in Europe. The forecasts for the future development remain promising. According to Solar Power Europe’s “European Market Outlook 2019-2023” published in December 2019, Spain is expected to have a compound annual growth rate of 34% by 2023 in the medium scenario. A total installed solar PV capacity of 25.6 GW will then be reached. Read more

Corporate Sourcing is on the rise

Solar energy will become cost-competitive with fossil energies in the coming years, which will favor new business models and sales opportunities. Intersolar Summit Spain is therefore not only dedicated to the solar market developments in Spain but also to the promising Corporate Sourcing models and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with their assets and drawbacks. Current projects have shown that renewable energy plants are able to generate power at the same or even lower prices as fossil power plants. Among the expected 250 attendees will therefore also be buyers from companies searching for Corporate Sourcing solutions.

If you are buyer and interested in taking part in the conference for free, please contact Ms. Simone Fein.
